Fabric

The umbrella production process requires several materials and steps. One of the main steps of umbrella making is the canopy, which can be made from various materials, such as fabrics or plastics, that repel water. Different types of fabrics are used by umbrella suppliers. Each has a different texture and feel. They must be closely woven to increase protective qualities. If tightly woven together, fabrics are entirely waterproof and can even prevent harmful UV rays from passing through. Nowadays, microfiber fabric is generally made with an acrylic coating on the underside and a repellent-type finish on the top. It is commonly used wholesale in umbrellas. The synthetic fiber material is extremely lightweight and easy to dye, which makes it an ideal fabric choice for ultra-lightweight umbrellas to fashion printing umbrellas. Umbrella manufacturing companies can select or add their own patterns and designs on fabric as customized umbrellas, OEM umbrellas, or ODM umbrellas. Rotary, screen, and digital printing umbrellas are cost-effective for a special order of a limited number of custom-designed umbrellas. The following are the available umbrella cloth fabric materials:

  • Polyester Fabric

Polyester, also known as Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), is a synthetic polymer used to manufacture umbrellas. Polyester is very durable and resistant to shrinking or wrinkling and is commonly used for men’s walking umbrellas, ladies' walking umbrellas, and small folding umbrellas. Because of light-weight and easy to maintain, it is also an ideal choice to make ultra lightweight umbrella by using polyester.

  • Pongee Fabric

Pongee is commonly used for men’s walking umbrellas, ladies' walking umbrellas, and small folding umbrellas.

  • Nylon Fabric

Nylon is lightweight, flexible, and soft. It is a very common fabric in the textile industry. When exposed to water, nylon is a type of fabric that will dry relatively quickly once wet, which makes it ideal for just about any type of rain umbrella. In addition, because of the characteristics of the dye, nylon is a good choice for preventing color migration in alternative colors or rainbow canopies. Nylon is commonly used for men’s walking umbrellas, ladies' walking umbrellas, and small folding umbrellas.

  • Satin Fabric

Satin is a soft fabric with thick and shimmery attributes. Satin is used for fashion umbrellas, and it is known for its thicker texture and reflective sheen to bring about an expensive look. It is usually considered to be luxurious.

Polyethylene (POE) is a polyether compound derived from petroleum with many applications in industrial manufacturing. The material can be transparent, has the characteristics of natural decomposition, suitable for custom clear umbrella or walking stick umbrella.
